Video - Behind the Scenes at Marquette Madness

Oct. 17, 2009

[9:54 a.m.] We went behind the scenes last night at Marquette Madness to give you an inside look at the entire production from start to finish.

Blue and Gold faithful began lining up outside the Al McGuire Center around 4 p.m. Doors opened at 5 p.m. for the volleyball match against Georgtown at 6 p.m. Head volleyball coach Bond Shymansky and his staff showed up early to hand out cookies to those waiting in line.

The good karma paid off as the Golden Eagles downed the Hoyas, 3-0, in front of a standing-room only crowd at The Al.

Displaying their new Brand Jordan apparrel, both the 2009-10 MU men's and women's basketball programs were introduced, beginning with head coach Terri Mitchell's women's squad. Following a short scrimmage, the women's players invited participants from the audience to compete in a game called "3-2-1."

Members of the Milwaukee Bucks were on hand to judge the dunk contest portion of Midnight Madness, which followed the introduction of the men's team. Head coach Buzz Williams spoke a few words to the crowd then spent most of the evening wandering around the arena thanking fans one-on-one.

Overall, credit goes to the fans for making this another memorable evening. Only a couple more weeks before the start of the regular season.
