Golden Eagles Arrive In Orlando, Busy Day Includes Practice & Banquet

Nov. 25, 2009

[11:30 p.m.] The Marquette men's basketball team had little time to notice the overcast weather Wednesday in Orlando as the squad prepares for the Old Spice Classic opener Thursday against Xavier.

The Golden Eagles departed the Al McGuire Center at 6 a.m. and arrived in Florida just in time to eat lunch and head to The Milk House at the Disney Wide World of Sports for the squad's 60-minute workout session. The travel part was finally able to grab some much-needed rest prior to the tournament-opening banquet at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Rain forced the event, which included all eight teams, to the set of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

Following dinner, which included a team photo with Mickey Mouse, all of the teams had the option of riding the Tower of Terror and Rock & Roll Rollercoaster. Nearly every player for MU participated, with the exception of Jimmy Butler, who opted out of the rollercoaster after finding out it went upside down.

The Golden Eagles returned to the Gaylord Palms hotel at 11 p.m. ET and went straight to the film room before finally concluding the long day.

Marquette will face Xavier Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT, following the Michigan/Creighton matchup.
