DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- The Marquette University men's golf team will compete in the inaugural Spring Break Championship, hosted by Florida Atlantic University, at the par-71 Gleneagles Country Club, March 27-29.

All 14 participating schools will play a practice round on Thursday followed by 54 holes of competition. Notre Dame and St. John's will join MU as the only other representatives from the BIG EAST Conference, in addition to in-state rival Wisconsin.

Other schools competing in the event include Illinois (No. 7), Michigan (No. 40), Iowa, Eastern Michigan, FAU (host), Memphis, Missouri, Northern Illinois, Northwestern and Ohio State.

This weekend's tournament marks the second of three trips the Golden Eagles will make this season to the Sunshine State. MU opened the spring slate by placing sixth out of 23 schools at the Ron Smith USF Invitational in Dade City, Fla., site of this year's BIG EAST Championship, April 19-22.

Marquette is most recently coming off a seventh place showing at the 20-team Pinehurst Intercollegiate By Gatorade in Pinehurst, N.C.

Senior Mike Van Sickle is still seeking his first win of 2009 after posting a school-record four victories during the fall campaign. Van Sickle has finished third in his two previous events this spring and currently ranks second in the Golfstat Cup standings.
