Caribbean Challenge Tournament Information
Eighteen dates with teams that earned postseason berths highlight the 2009-10 Marquette women's basketball schedule announced Thursday by head coach Terri Mitchell. Out of the 18 teams on the slate that played in a post-season tournament, eight of those were NCAA Tournament teams.
"Once again, I believe our non-conference schedule is very strong. We will have plenty of challenges that will prepare us for BIG EAST play," said head coach Terri Mitchell. "We have games both home and away that will make us tougher. We are all excited about the opportunity we have to take our team to Cancun, it will be a great tournament and a fun experience for our players. When conference play starts, we will be battle tested and that is the only way you can approach the BIG EAST. From the first game we play against Pittsburgh to our last game against Cincinnati, the challenges we will face will be tough but that's the only way we want it at Marquette."
The Golden Eagles open the season at home against St. Francis on Nov. 14. Marquette will head to Ann Arbor, Mich., for its first road trip of the season where it will match-up against Michigan on Monday, Nov. 16, before returning to the Al McGuire Center to host Creighton on Thurs., Nov. 19 and Oakland on Sat., Nov. 21.
