Golden Eagles Continue BIG EAST Play Saturday At No. 19/19 Connecticut

The Marquette University men's basketball team continues play at No. 19/19 Connecticut Saturday afternoon at 11 a.m. CT. The matchup with the Huskies is the BIG?EAST?Network Game of the Week broadcast, with Mike Gleason (play-by-play) and Mike Kelley (analyst) calling the action. WMLW-TV will feature the contest, which will also be available on ESPN Full Court and, in the greater Milwaukee area. Saturday's game will mark MU's sixth outing in nine league games against a top-20 nationally ranked opponent. Following the trip to Hartford, Marquette returns home to face DePaul on Feb. 3.

MU Tops Nation In 3-Point Shooting Percentage
Featuring an offensive attack that is averaging 9.5 treys made per game in conference outings, Marquette is currently ranked first in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.433).

Through games of Jan. 27, Marquette has knocked down 162-of-374 from behind the line, edging Iowa State's 42.6 percent (149-of-350) from distance. MU's effort on the season includes an impressive conversion rate of 46.3 percent (76-of-164) in BIG EAST play.

Sophomore guard Darius Johnson-Odom leads the way with 45 treys, but a total of six players have drained at least 10 3-pointers on the year.

Coaches Vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Weekend Jan. 29-31
Coaches vs. Cancer® Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), is slated for the weekend of Jan. 29-31, 2010. Participating NABC member coaches will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their suits during weekend games to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society and its vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Basketball fans are also encouraged to wear sneakers to games that weekend to show their support.

Marquette's coaching staff will be wearing Brand Jordan sneakers for Saturday's matchup at Connecticut.
