Remembering Maurice Lucas

"Most Warriors will remember Lucas as a take no prisoners, separate the bodies rebounder. I’ll remember Maurice Lucas as phenomenal father. It was an honor and a privilege to have his sons attend my camp at Utah. Al and Hank’s greatest legacy may be the person the Maurice Lucas became, not the player.

Lucas was a father extraordinaire, who was so proud of his sons for being well educated, happy and self-confident young men. His legacy was as a great father to two terrific sons, David and Maurice, and a wonderful daughter Kristen. He was also someone who respected and revered his mother, always appreciative of the opportunities that she was able to provide for him.

Maurice was a warrior extraordinaire, glass eater and among the most confident players I’ve ever coached or been associated with throughout my career."

Former MU Basketball Coach

"Truly one of the all-time greats. I was very close to him, we spent a lot of time together, talking over the years, laughing.  We were truly close and he will be missed. One of the true all-time greats. We had some good times together when we were in school, but we became closer once he graduated. Luke was genuine."
