Oct. 24, 2011

MILWAUKEE - Senior defender Kerry McBride was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for her role in the No. 5/10 Marquette University women's soccer team's 2-0 shutout of USF. It was announced by league officials Monday afternoon.

McBride played all 90 minutes in the Golden Eagles ninth straight win, while helping hold USF to just four shots with only one on goal. The win over the Bulls gave Marquette a share of its third straight BIG EAST American Division title, its seventh regular season conference championship in program history.

It is McBride's second BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honor this season. She first earned the honor on Aug. 22.

The Golden Eagles will host Notre Dame in BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinal action Sunday, Oct. 30 at Valley Fields. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
