Feb. 26, 2011

The Marquette University men's tennis team (6-5) opened a weekend homestand Saturday night with a 7-0 victory over Bradley (7-3) in non-conference action at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles are now 5-0 at home this season.

Marquette's claimed the team victory rather quickly with three-quick singles wins. Freshman Dan Mamalat secured the team's fourth point with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles over Juan Cuadrado.

Also claiming wins for Marquette were freshmen Logon Collins and Thibault Troude.

The Golden Eagles opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matchups to claim the early 1-0 advantage. After posting a win at the No. 1 position, MU's Logon Collins and Drake Kakar secured the point with an 8-3 decision over Bradley's Ashton Kalhorn and Devon Manning at the No. 3 spot.

Marquette wraps up its weekend homestand Sunday morning at 10 a.m. when the squad welcomes Eastern Illinois to Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
