MU Looks to Pack the House Saturday Against No. -/23 St. John's

MILWAUKEE -- The No. 23/24 Marquette University women's basketball team closes out a two-game homestand Saturday, Feb. 5 when it hosts No. -/23 St. John's at the Al McGuire Center.

MUTube, GoMarquette.com's official multimedia platform, will carry the game live with Kent Sommerfeld and Kyle Dlabay calling the action.

Following its game against the Red Storm, Marquette will have the week off before traveling to rival DePaul on Satuday, Feb. 12.

Marquette will aim to "Pack the House" Saturday night against the Red Storm as all general admission tickets, hot dogs and sodas available for only $1.

The Golden Eagles are in the midst of a three-game win streak with its most recent win being over Villanova, 62-57, Feb. 1. Marquette had four players score in double figures for the 12th time this season led by Katherine Plouffe's game-high 15.

The Red Storm (16-6, 5-4) stand No. 23 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll yet aren't receiving a vote in the Associated Press Poll. St. John's enters the game with Marquette on the heels of back-to-back wins at Providence, 69-53, on Jan. 29 and against Rutgers, 51-48, on Feb. 2. Shenneika Smith leads the Red Storm with 13.1 points per game.

The No. 23 ranked Red Storm will be the fifth nationally ranked team the Golden Eagles will face this season. Marquette is 3-2 against teams in the top 25 with wins over then-No. 23/17 Green Bay, No. 15/14 Georgetown and No. 6/7 West Virginia. MU is 22-45 against teams in the top-25 under head coach Terri Mitchell.

Marquette is 5-2 all-time against St. John's, 3-0 when playing at the Al McGuire Center. The Golden Eagles dropped the last meeting, 71-58 at Carnesecca Arena on Jan. 5, 2010. Angel Robinson led all scorers in that game with 20 points.
