MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's volleyball team will compete in its first action of the 2011 spring season on Saturday, March 26 at the Great Lakes Center Collegiate Challenge in Aurora, Ill.

Marquette will begin competition at 10 a.m. on court No. 6 against Western Michigan and will face either Valparaiso or Michigan State, depending on the results of the first round matches.

Nebraska, Toledo, Wisconsin and Louisville will also compete. All teams in attendance are guaranteed three matches.

Marquette is coming off its most successful season in school history after recording a 23-9 mark, including an 11-3 record in BIG EAST Conference play. The Golden Eagles advanced to the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals for the second time in MU history and notched a record 14-match winning streak during the season.

With the loss of all-Americans Nikki Klingsporn and Rabbecka Gonyo, head coach Bond Shymansky and staff will use this spring to analyze the current roster and build toward the 2011 fall campaign.
