MILWAUKEE - Senior guard Tatiyiana McMorris has been selected to participate in the 2011 State Farm Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship announced Wednesday by Intersport. The event, coupled with the Mercedes-Benz Men's 3-Point Shooting Championship and Denny's Slam Dunk Championship, is Thursday, March 31 in Houston, Texas at the Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston Campus and will premiere at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
McMorris was one of MU's go-to long-range shooters during the 2010-11 season as she led the Golden Eagles with a 39.0 percent clip from behind the arc. She was clutch in critical moments hitting game-winning 3-pointers against St. John's and against Texas in the first round of the NCAA Championship. McMorris drained 80 3-pointers for the season, which is the second best single-season total in program history. The All-BIG EAST Second Team selection finished her career fourth on the all-time 3-point field goal percentage list (37.1), tied for sixth in 3-point field goals made (152) and eighth in 3-point field goals attempted (410).
Along with McMorris, the field for the 2011 State Farm Women's 3-Point Shooting Championship includes: Kelsey Bolte (Iowa State), Brittany Johnson (Ohio State), Cerie Mosgrove (Massachusetts), Sam Quigley (DePaul), Jaleesa Ross (Fresno State), Brittney Scott (University of Houston) and Courtney Ward (Florida State).
