PALM HARBOR, Fla. -- Paced by senior Kelly Kretz and junior Matt Haase, Marquette University (303) shaved one stroke off yesterday's score but dropped to 10th place Monday with one round remaining at the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship.

Kretz (T20) and Haase (T33) each shot a 3-over-par 74 Monday to lead the Golden Eagles in the second round at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club.

Senior Ben Sieg continues to be the top MU individual, tied for 11th place at 6-over 148 (71-77) for the tournament, five strokes off the lead.

"It was just a tough day overall," said Sieg. "I'm hopeful that we'll close out the season on a high note tomorrow. Individually, I want to go out there and post a low number early and see if I can move up the leaderboard."

Notre Dame (583) took a seven-stroke lead over Louisville (590) atop the team standings. Currently there eight teams in the middle of the pack separated by a margin of six strokes.

MU, with team score of 607, is five strokes behind fourth-place USF (602) followed by DePaul, Seton Hall and Cincinnati and is two strokes behind St. John's and Connecticut (605).
