MILWAUKEE - Senior goalkeeper Natalie Kulla and defender Kerry McBride were named the BIG EAST Conference Goalkeeper and Defensive Players of the Week for their efforts in the No. 12/14 Marquette University women's soccer team's shut-out wins over Western Michigan and Northwestern. League officials announced the first set of weekly honors Monday afternoon.
Kulla played all 183:57 in net and posted a pair of shutouts while only having to make one save in each match. The two wins moved her to second place on Marquette's all-time wins list with 42 for her career. It is Kulla's third goalkeeper of the week selection as she earned the honor once during the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
McBride was integral in MU's defensive effort in the two wins as she helped limit Northwestern and Western Michigan to nine total shots and only two on goal. It is McBride's second defensive player of the week honor of her career. She last collected the honor on Oct. 25, 2010.
