MILWAUKEE- The Marquette women's basketball is back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 when the Golden Eagles host Villanova at the Al McGuire Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and will be televised live on CBS Sports Network with James Bates (play-by-play) and Tammy Blackburn (analyst) on the call.
It's $2 Tuesday. General admission tickets and select concessions are only $2.
The Golden Eagles (10-6, 1-2 BIG EAST) are coming off their first BIG EAST Conference win of the season, a 69-60 defeat of Seton Hall Saturday evening. Marquette shot over 56 percent and combined for 25 assists on 27 made baskets. Sophomore Katherine Plouffe registered her fourth game of the season of 20-or-more points, while classmate Katie Young poured in a career-high 18 points on six-of-nine shooting, including five 3-pointers.
Villanova (11-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) suffered its first BIG?EAST?loss of the season, a 61-56 setback at West Virginia on Saturday. The Wildcats, who were picked to finish 13th in the league own conference wins over Providence and Pittsburgh. Laura Sweeney leads the Wildcats with 15.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
Marquette is 5-3 all-time against Villanova in a series that commenced when the Golden Eagles joined the league in 2005. Marquette has won the last three against the Wildcats. In the last regular season meeting, Marquette came out victorious, 62-57, on February 1, 2011 at the Al McGuire Center. Katherine Plouffe paced Marquette with a game-high 15 points in the win. Marquette is 2-1 all-time against the Wildcats at the Al McGuire Center.
