KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Marquette University men's golf team closed out the Pinetree Intercollegiate with a final score of 947 finishing in 12th place at Pinetree Country Club.
Freshman Pat Sanchez and junior Michael Motz led the Golden Eagles Tuesday, each closing with a final-round 78. Sanchez tied for 34th place overall, finishing with a total score of 231 over the two-day tournament, while Motz finished 45th.
Freshman Nick Nelson (T57th) finished at 239, five strokes behind Motz. Junior Corey Konieczki (68th) shot a 54-hole total of 248, and freshman Zach Gaugert (69th) finished at 249.
Senior Ryan Prickette (T62nd), who graduates in December and played as an individual, closed out his collegiate career carding a final-round 80.
Host Kennesaw State won the competition, claiming the top spot in every round and finishing with a team score of 4-under-par 860. Kennesaw's Jimmy Beck also won medalist honors with a two-day total of 209.
The Golden Eagles will return to competition in Kiawah Island, S.C., Oct. 28-30, in their final team event of the fall season at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic.
