MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's basketball team (1-0) opens a four-game road swing on Sunday, Nov. 18 at Georgia Tech. Tip-off at McCormish Pavilion is slated for 1 p.m. CT
The Golden Eagles won their 10th consecutive season opener last weekend defeating Butler, 73-62 at the Al McGuire Center. MU saw four players score in double figures and was led by sophomore Arleshia Morse with 16 points. Senior Sarina Simmons tallied 13 points, while juniors Katherine Plouffe and Katie Young recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Georgia Tech enters the contest with a 1-1 record after falling to Tennessee, 71-54, but rebounding against Kennesaw State with an 80-51 victory. The Yellow Jackets are led by junior guard Tyaunna Marshall who has been named to the Naismith Trophy women's early season watch list. Marshall was also named to the Wooden Award's preseason top-30. She scored her 1,000th career point against Kennesaw State.
This is just the second all-time meeting between the two squads. Last season, In Milwaukee, Georgia Tech defeated the Golden Eagles, 73-64.
Following the trip to Atlanta, MU will head to College Station, Texas for a Thanksgiving Tournament. The Golden Eagles take on Marshall on Friday, Nov. 23 before meeting host, No. 13 Texas A&M on Sunday, Nov. 25.
