Koberstein is Student-Athlete of the Week for Play at BIG EAST Tournament

MILWAUKEE - For her performance at the 2012 BIG EAST Conference Women's Volleyball Championship, including helping Marquette reach the title match for the first time in program history, junior setter Elizabeth Koberstein has been named GoMarquette.com's Student-Athlete of the Week.

Following MU's championship match against Louisville on Sunday afternoon, Koberstein was named to the conference's all-tournament team, along with senior Danielle Carlson. The Madison, Wis., native tallied match-highs in assists against Pittsburgh (44), USF (46) and Louisville (31) in the Golden Eagles' run through the tournament.

Prior to the start of the conference tournament, Koberstein was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team (Nov. 15) after leading the league with an 11.67 assist per set average this season. She has tallied 1,370 assists on the campaign, leaving her just 21 assists shy of passing Nikki Klingsporn and moving into fifth place on Marquette's single-season list.

Marquette will conclude its campaign on Saturday, Nov. 24 when it welcomes Northern Illinois to the Al McGuire Center for a 6 p.m. match. Following the contest with the Huskies, MU will hope for an at-large berth to the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, when the selection show is televised Sunday, Nov. 25 at 3 p.m. Central time on ESPNU.
