MU-South Dakota State Notes | Live Audio
MILWAUKEE - After splitting a pair of decisions in two games at the Texas A&M Thanksgiving Classic, the Marquette University women's basketball team will conclude its four-game road swing when it heads to Brookings, S.D., on Wednesday, Nov. 28 for a 6 p.m. CT tip against South Dakota State at Frost Arena.
Marquette (2-2) picked up a 67-46 victory over Marshall on Nov. 23 in the opening contest of the Texas A&M Classic, before falling to the No. 24 Aggies, 84-64, just two days later.
Junior Katherine Plouffe tallied a double-double against the Thundering Herd and scored a season-best and game-high 18 points vs. the host-Aggies to receive a spot on the event's all-tournament team. Sophomore Arlesia Morse tallied 13 points, including a 3-for-6 mark from the three-point line, all of which came in the second half against Texas A&M to join Plouffe on the all-tournament team. Both Plouffe and Morse lead MU with 13.8 and 11.5 points per game averages this season, respectively.
South Dakota State (3-3) enters the contest with Marquette after facing a pair of Mid-American Conference opponents on the road last week. SDSU claimed a one-point victory, 59-58, at Northern Illinois (Nov. 21), prior to suffering a 88-62 set-back against Central Michigan on Nov. 23. The Jack Rabbits notched a notable win earlier this season on Nov. 18 when they knocked-off No. 15 Nebraska, 60-55.
Senior Ashley Eide leads SDSU in scoring with a 12.2 points per game game average, while sophomore Megan Waytashek has chipped in 10.7 ppg and has knocked down a team-best 10 three-pointers on the season.
Marquette has never lost to South Dakota State in the three meetings between the programs. The Golden Eagles earned a 59-51 victory at the Al McGuire Center on Dec. 19, 2011 in the last meeting.
