REUNION, Fla. -- The Marquette University men's golf team looks to claim its first conference title since 2008 when the Golden Eagles tee it up at the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship, which begins Sunday, April 28, through Tuesday, April 30, at Reunion Resort outside Orlando, Fla.

It was sunny and temperature was in the mid-80s Saturday during Marquette's practice round at the par-72, 7,257-yard Tom Watson Course. The forecast for the rest of the week calls for much of the same with scattered thunderstorms in the mix for Monday and Tuesday.

Head coach Steve Bailey's five-man lineup includes freshmen Pat Sanchez and Zach Gaugert, redshirt sophomore Adam Chester, sophomore Will Joiner and junior Corey Konieczki.

Sanchez, Gaugert and Konieczki have played in every tournament during the 2012-13 campaign. Joiner was MU's top finisher at the team's last event, the Kemper Sports Intercollegiate, early last week. Chester will be playing in his fifth stroke-play tournament of the season, earning his way back into the lineup for the first time since mid-March.

An automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA regionals awaits this week's BIG EAST team champion.

Marquette, which went undefeated (3-0) earlier this year in a match play event at Reunion Resort, finished eighth at last year's conference championship, also held at the same track. The Golden Eagles captured the 2008 BIG EAST Championship behind the play of individual medalist Ted Gray.
