No. 15 Marquette Welcomes No. 16 Xavier Saturday

MILWAUKEE -- The No. 15 Marquette University men's soccer team (7-3-3, 1-1-3 BIG EAST) and No. 16 Xavier University (9-3-2, 3-0-2) meet for a BIG EAST Conference match Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7:05 p.m. Central time at Valley Fields.

Xavier comes to Milwaukee riding an eight-match unbeaten streak and tied for second place in the BIG EAST table with 11 points. After defeating DePaul 2-0 (Oct. 15) and tying Creighton 1-1 (Oct. 18) last week, the Musketeers entered the NSCAA Coaches' poll for the first time this season at No. 16.

Marquette leads the all-time series history with Xavier 4-0-0 dating back to 1987. MU defeated Xavier 1-0 in Cincinnati last season. C. Nortey scored the game-winner in the 31st minute.

Earlier in the week, MU tied No. 23 Providence 1-1 on Wednesday at Valley Fields. Sophomore Jake Taylor scored the equalizer in the 63rd minute. MU remains unbeaten at home in 2014 and has not lost at "The Valley" in its past 10 matches dating back to last season.

There will be an MU student tailgate at halftime of Saturday's match featuring a free taco bar sponsored by Qdoba.
