MILWAUKEE - Luke Fischer's 15 points led six Marquette players in double figures as the Golden Eagles downed Morgan State 81-53 in their last non-conference game on Sunday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Marquette (8-4) led by as many as 28 points and also received 14 points from senior Juan Anderson, 13 from Jajuan Johnson, while Matt Carlino, Sandy Cohen III and Duane Wilson scored 11 apiece.
Morgan State's Cedric Blossom was the only Bear to reach double digits with 21 points.
-MU hit nine of its first 15 shots (60 percent) and took a 20-9 lead into the second media timeout. After shooting 55 percent in the first half, Marquette shot 65 percent in the second to finish shooting 60 percent from the field.
-The Golden Eagles totaled 39 bench points, including 25 in the second half. Jajuan Johnson scored 13 of these points on 6-of-8 shooting.
-Morgan State was held without a field goal for 9:43 in the first half until Cedric Blossom hit a layup with 3:10 left. The Bears missed 17 consecutive shots during their drought. During the span Marquette went on a 14-0 run to take a 28-9 lead.
-Matt Carlino knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half. His third put MU up 28-9 at the 4:10 mark. Carlino finished with 11 points on the day.
-Duane Wilson converted a three-point play with 2:16 left in the first half to give Marquette a 34-13 lead.
-The Bears managed just 17 first half points, marking the lowest total given up by MU in the first 20 minutes of play this season. Marquette held Morgan State to just seven first half field goals (7-of-34 FGs, 20.6 percent).
-The 37-17 lead heading into the break tied Marquette's largest halftime lead of the season.
-Back-to-back Sandy Cohen III threes and a Duane Wilson layup helped the Golden Eagles extend their lead to 28 at 72-44 with 5:21 to play. Cohen hit three 3-pointers in the second stanza.
-Juan Anderson notched nine points in the first half and finished with 14 on 6-of-7 shooting.
-Luke Fischer finished a perfect 6-of-6 from the field, tallying a team-high 15 points. He also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
-Blossom finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting for Morgan State.
-Marquette assisted on 25 of 32 made field goals. While Carlino finished with a game-high seven assists, Johnson surpassed his previous career high of three with five today.
-MU finished with 48 points in the paint, its largest total of the season.
-Six Golden Eagles reached double digit points in a single game for the first time this season.
