TUSCON, Ariz - The Marquette University men's golf team finished in 11th place at the National Invitational Tournament as the third round concluded the competition at the Omni Tucson National in Tucson, Ariz on Sunday.
Brandon Cloete and C.J Swift both finished tied for 28th shooting an even par 216 over the three rounds. Cloete (74-72-70) had his strongest performance in Sunday's final round while Swift (71-73-72) helped Marquette get off to a solid start in the first round.
Zach Gaugert (222) also helped the Golden Eagles in the opening round and ended up T51 with a 6 over par performance. Next in the standings for MU was Pat Sanchez (228) in 69th followed by Nick Nelson (231). Henry Klongland (255) competed as an individual.
California boasted both the top individual and team score. Joel Stalter took home the individual title with an impressive 11 under-par 205 (68-71-66) helping his Golden Bears secure the team overall title with a score of 831. MU had a team score of 874 which was good enough for 11th place overall.
Marquette doesn't return to action until April when they will travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the Hawkeye Invitational at the Finkbine Golf Course April. 12-13.
