MILWAUKEE- Senior Katherine Plouffe has been named the BIG EAST player of the week for her efforts in Marquette's matchups vs. St. John's, Creighton, and Villanova. This is the third time this season that Plouffe has received this honor.
During her outstanding week, Plouffe propelled the Golden Eagles (20-9, 11-7) to two crucial victories against some the BIG EAST Conference's top competition. Plouffe notched 15 points and 8 rebounds in a victory at St. John's, and she matched a career high with 33 points to go along with 8 rebounds in a senior night victory over Creighton at the Al McGuire center.
Earlier this week, Plouffe was named the 2013-14 BIG East Conference Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was also a unanimous first team BIG EAST all-conference selection.
The next task for Plouffe and Marquette is the BIG EAST Conference tournament, which is held at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill. The No. 5 seeded Golden Eagles will face the No. 4 seeded Villanova Wildcats on Sunday, March 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Central time.
