MILWAUKEE - Redshirt junior Courtney Kintzel begins her first season at Marquette this season after three years at Northern Iowa, where she played with her older sister, Shelby. The Mount Vernon, Iowa native joins the MU front line after earning All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team accolades in 2013.
Kintzel recently caught up with GoMarquette.com as she gets set to begin her career in Blue & Gold.
The best thing about your hometown?
The best thing about my hometown (Mount Vernon, Iowa) is that it is small and quaint, yet it is close to two big cities so that you can still find fun stuff to do.
Interesting fact about you, your family or hometown?
I had the same high school volleyball coach that my mom had when she was in high school.
Your impressions of Marquette after the summer and pre-season camp?
It is great! There is so much to do around here that you would never be bored.
Something about Marquette and/or Milwaukee you did not know before arriving?
That there is so much to do here throughout the city.
What are you looking forward to the most?
I am looking forward to playing for this great school and working hard to becoming the best team that we can be.
In kindergarten what did you want to be when you grew up?
What do you plan on studying at Marquette?
Psychology (will graduate in May).
Is there a team you are looking forward to playing the most; or a trip?
I love to travel so I cannot wait to go everywhere!
Who is your biggest hero/inspiration and why?
My parents, Bob and JoAnn Kintzel, are an inspiration to me because they help me realize that not everything is going to happen the way you want it to, but it is what you do with those situations that make you who you are and who you want to be. You have to be able to make your own sunshine every day!
When did you start playing volleyball?
I think I started in 5th grade. Or 4th grade. I cannot remember. It was so long ago!
What is your most embarrassing volleyball moment?
I do not think that I have had any. Haha.
AUSTRALIA!!!!! Or Greece.
What are your interests or hobbies other than volleyball?
I love to watch movies, listen to music, and hang out with my family/friends.
I would have to say fruit. I cannot not get enough of it. Oh and bread and butter. I could live on those two things.
Favorite sports team?
Whoever is doing well at the time or it also depends where I am living.
Last concert you attended?
Time Flies and it was awesome!
There are too many to choose from but I would have to say: AliKat, Buckle and Athleta.

Everyone is funny at different times. It would be hard to name just one person.
