MILWAUKEE-The Marquette University women's volleyball team will get back to BIG EAST play with just one match this weekend, and travel to DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 31. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. Central time.
The Golden Eagles have won five straight contests dating back to Oct. 11 when the squad fell in straight sets at league-leader Creighton. Most recently, MU cruised past local foe, Milwaukee in three sets (25-20, 25-13, 25-18) on Monday evening led by 14 kills for reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Taylor Louis.
In the first meeting this year, Marquette defeated the Blue Demons in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20 at the Al McGuire Center led by 11 kills each from Louis and junior Joy Miley and 16 digs from Lauren Houg.
Since falling to MU, DePaul has gone 2-7, picking up a 3-1 victory over Xavier and a sweep of Providence. The Blue Demons have not been letting teams coast right through as five of those seven losses came in five sets, including Creighton and Villanova, the current top two teams in the BIG EAST.
Marquette has won 16 of the last 17 meetings against DePaul and is 12-1 against the Blue Demons since the long-time rivals entered the BIG EAST in 2005.
Live video of the match is available for a paid subscription through DePaul's athletics website, but live stats will be available at depaulbluedemons.com through Gametracker.
