INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After dropping the first set, the Marquette women's volleyball team rebounded with three consecutive set victories to earn a 3-1 ( 22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22) match win over Butler at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse on Friday evening.

Marquette (23-6, 13-4) was paced by Taylor Louis and Sara Blasier, who each recorded a double-double in the win. Louis notched a match-high 25 kills with 12 digs, while Blasier dished out 45 assists and collected a team-high 16 digs.

Freshman Allie Barber helped lead offensive efforts with 12 kills, while Meghan Niemann and Jenna Rosenthal poured in nine and eight kills, respectively.

Along with Louis and Blasier three other Golden Eagles tallied double-digits digs as libero Lauren Houg notched 15, Madeline Mosher recorded 12 and Manon Geoffroy posted 10 digs.

"It was a great team effort tonight," head coach Ryan Theis said. "Taylor had big moments where she took over and different players stepped up in different moments of the match.Meghan had a big game in the third set and Jenna had a big point run to win the fourth set from the service line. The back court did a great job handling Butler's setter."

After dropping the first set, 25-22, to the Bulldogs (19-14, 8-9), MU rebounded with a 25-22 win in the second frame, led by four kills from Barber. In the third set, the Golden Eagles quickly jumped out to a 10-4 lead, forcing Butler to call timeout. Niemann landed two consecutive kills followed by a blast from Louis to extend the lead to 14-8, but Butler continued to chip away at the lead and had closed to within three points, 20-17 after consecutive kills from Anna Logan. After a quick Marquette break Louis found the floor for a kill and set point as an error rom the Bulldogs closed out the set.

In the fourth frame, the teams played close in the opening, but after consecutive errors, Marquette called a timeout trailing, 12-9. Two kills from Barber put the Golden Eagles within one points, 14-13, and a pair of Louis kills and a service ace from Blasier had the score tied at 19 each. It was a point-for-point contest until a service ace from Rosenthal gave the Golden Eagles a 22-21 lead forcing Butler to call timeout. After the break, MU pressed and earned match point on another ace from Rosenthal before closing out the match on an error from the Bulldogs.

Marquette hit .273 combined and held Butler to a .181 clip, while totaling five team blocks.

Marquette concludes the regular season at Xavier on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. CT, which will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network with Mike Schmaltz calling the action.
