MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's volleyball team has added San Jacinto College (Pasadena, Texas) transfer, libero Manon Geoffroy, to its roster for the 2016-17 campaign, head coach Ryan Theis announced on Tuesday.
Geoffroy will arrive on campus this summer and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"Manon is very competitive and will give us an added boost of ball control and volleyball IQ," said Theis. "She is a great teammate and has a tremendous work ethic, so we're excited to add her to the program."
Last year, Geoffroy was a dominant defensive presence on the NJCAA scene. The 5'5" sophomore compiled a number of accolades after ranking second in the nation with 873 digs on the season. In 2015, Geoffroy was part of a San Jacinto team that captured the NJCAA National Volleyball Championship. In helping lead San Jac to a title, Geoffroy was tabbed to the 2015 NJCAA All-American Second Team and was donned a member of the All-Conference team. Additionally, she earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after leading her squad through the tournament's regional round.
Hailing from Metz, France, Geoffroy has international experience in addition to time spent on the JUCO circuit. While playing overseas, she earned France's 2012 Libero of the Year honors after helping her squad capture the 2012 French National AAU Championship.
Last season, the Golden Eagles made their fifth consecutive NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship appearance, after finishing the season with a 22-12 (12-6 BIG EAST) record.
