Official BIG EAST Release
NEW YORK - Marquette University sophomore Riley Hill was named to the BIG EAST Conference weekly honor roll after accumulating nine points in a 1-1 week for the Golden Eagles, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Hill capped off the week with a seven-point output in a narrow 13-12 loss to Georgetown on Saturday on the road. The West Islip, N.Y. native dished out a career-best five assists - the most by a BIG EAST player this season and most since Jessica Mucci of Villanova handed out six helpers back on March 28, 2015.
It fell just two shy of the Marquette record held by Claire Costanza, who handed out seven assists in a 10-point effort in a win over St. Mary's back on March 10, 2015.
The sophomore chipped in three goals and six assists in all, totaling one apiece in an 11-7 win over Vanderbilt on April 20.
This marks Hill's first weekly award of the season and third of her career. As a freshman in 2015, she earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week (Feb. 24) and a weekly honor roll (March 17) selection. Hill ranks fourth on the team with 33 points this season, totaling 12 goals and 21 assists. Her 10 assists in six league outings this year leads the BIG EAST.
The Golden Eagles close out the regular season at home against Cincinnati on Friday, April 29. Marquette's 13 seniors will be honored prior to the 5 p.m. start time at Valley Fields.
