MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's volleyball team hosted its annual Blue and Gold Scrimmage Sunday at the Al McGuire Center, preceded by another successful youth clinic.
Upwards of 80 children attended the youth clinic, where participants received instruction from Marquette players and coaches. All attendees were also invited to a pizza party at the conclusion of the clinic.
In the scrimmage, Marquette played three matches and players switched sides after each game, as the coaching staff featured different rotations. Sophomore Taylor Louis recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs, while freshman Allie Barber made a strong impression, hammering 11 kills of her own.
After redshirting a season ago, freshman Abby Julian posted a double-double in her first appearance in a Marquette uniform, notching 20 assists and 15 digs.
Following the match, the Golden Eagles signed autographs for the fans in attendance.
Marquette will officially open the 2016 campaign on Friday, Aug. 26, at No. 7 USC in Los Angeles, California. The contest with the Trojans is slated to begin at 10 p.m. Central time.
