Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK - Marquette men's soccer redshirt sophomore Danny Jarosz has been named BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The Milwaukee native collected his first career BIG EAST weekly award after helping solidify a young backline that propelled the Golden Eagles to a 1-0-1 record last week against Northwestern and Saint Louis, while extending the team's current unbeaten streak to four matches (3-0-1).

Marquette outscored the opposition 5-2 on the week with both goals allowed coming via penalties. Jarosz and the defense hasn't allowed a goal in the run of play for over 289 minutes dating back to the first minute of a 4-1 win over UIC back on Sept. 2.

The 6-4 centerback also picked up his first career point, assisting on Connor Alba's goal in the 67th minute to earn a 1-1 draw against Saint Louis on Saturday.

Jarosz and the Golden Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday at Valley Fields when they play host to archrival UW-Milwaukee in the 44th Annual Milwaukee Cup. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
