NEW YORK - Sixth-year senior Darian Powell earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the golden goal on a header in the 93rd minute to lift Marquette past Xavier, 1-0, on Saturday's Senior Night.

Powell's goal was her fifth on the season and 23rd of her career, putting her eighth in Marquette history. The La Porte City, Iowa native also notched her 10th career match winner in the victory, tying her with current MU assistant coach Ashley Bares for sixth all-time at MU.

The win over the Musketeers (7-5-4, 3-1-2 BIG EAST) gave the Golden Eagles (10-5-1, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) a needed three points in the league standings to place them fifth with nine points. The top six teams make the postseason conference tournament.

The honor is Powell's second weekly accolade of 2017 and the fifth of her career. She also earned offensive player of the week honors on Oct. 26, 2015 on her way to second team all-conference honors.

Marquette resumes BIG EAST action on the road against league-leader and No. 15 Georgetown on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Central time.
