MILWAUKEE - Sam Hauser posted a team-high 20 points and Marquette rebounded from a slow start to defeat Lindenwood, 81-79, in Saturday's exhibition at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

All five starters reached double figures for the Golden Eagles, while freshman Greg Elliott scored eight points off the bench in his first game in the building in front of a crowd. The Detroit native secured five rebounds and a pair of steals in 19 minutes of action.

In addition to Hauser's 18 points, Haanif Cheatham and Sacar Anim contributed 17 and 14, respectively, and were instrumental as Marquette launched a comeback from a double-digit deficit in the second half.

MU trailed by as many 11 points early in the second half, but was able to chip away at the Lindenwood lead by attacking the basket. Anim put the Golden Eagles ahead for good on a driving layup with 9:17 remaining in the game and MU held off a late surge from the Lions for the narrow victory.

Chandler Diekvoss gave the Lions the game's largest advantage, 50-39, with a 3-pointer at the 17:08 mark of the second half.

Cheatham connected on his first four shots of the afternoon including three early triples to keep MU in the game. The rest of the squad combined to shoot 0-for-10 from deep in the first half

Lindenwood hit 10 first half 3-pointers, including one with time winding down in the half, and led 42-37 at the break. TJ Crockett and Jackson Price each hit three 3-pointers through the first 30 minutes to pace the Lions with nine points.

Brad Newman led Lindenwood with 19 points on the day while Price and Diekvoss each had 16. Price's 3-point attempt for the victory rimmed out as time expired.

The Golden Eagles begin regular season play at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Friday, Nov. 10 against Mount St. Mary's at 8 p.m.
