MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University women's soccer team is set to begin its spring 2017 slate with the annual indoor Tournament of Friends on Sunday, March 5.
The Tournament of Friends will feature six teams competing for the title at Marquette Gym. The current MU roster will be split into two sides, Marquette Blue and Marquette Gold, while the Marquette Alumni, and Marquette club team round out the participants from MU. Concordia University and UW-Whitewater will complete the tournament field.
The all-day event is set to begin at 9 a.m. Central time, with Marquette Blue opposing Marquette Gold. Each team is guaranteed to play four matches throughout the day, while the top four groups will advance to the playoffs and will be seeded according to overall records.
Following the Tournament of Friends, Marquette will open its outdoor spring season with a road contest at Valparaiso at 7:30 p.m. Central time on March 31.
The first Marquette home games of the spring will be held as a part of an April 2 doubleheader with Iowa State and Milwaukee. The double-dip will mark MU's initial action in the newly debuted seasonal dome at Valley Fields.
