MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette men's tennis team will travel to San Antonio, Texas for a three-game Spring road trip and will face New Orleans, Incarnate Word, and UTSA. The first contest is set for Wednesday, March 15 at 11 a.m. Central time.
MU looks to build off the momentum from a 6-1 home victory against NIU. The Huskies won the doubles point at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. But, the Golden Eagles completed a 6-0 sweep in singles competition to claim the victory at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
Leading singles competition is Greg Anderson, who has picked up 11 wins in singles play this season and holds a 2-0 record at the No. 2 spot. Luke Smrek has compiled 10 wins and is 5-4 is duals.
The Golden Eagles are set to face New Orleans for Wednesday's matchup. The Privateers have played to a 4-5 record this season. New Orleans' top pair of Federico Boscarino and Jeffrey Hsu are 2-2 overall. Singles play is led by Giacomo Adoncecchi, who is 7-1 in the 2017 campaign.
Marquette will play its second dual match against Incarnate Word on Friday, March 17 at 1 p.m. Central time. The Cardinals are 4-10 on the season and are led in doubles play by top pair Joey Vatanadilok and Francisco Bendana.
The final contest of the Spring trip is slated for Saturday, March 18 at 10 a.m. Central time, as the team faces UTSA. The Roadrunners are led in singles competition by Kai Breitbach and Juri Reckow. The top pair for doubles play are Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede, who have played to a 4-4 record. UTSA currently holds a 3-12 overall record.
After the three-match road trip wraps up, Marquette will return home for a dual meet with Wright State on Sunday, March 26 at 11 a.m. Central time.
