March 6, 2017

Guard Andrew Rowsey of the Marquette University men's basketball team has earned the BIG EAST Conference Sixth Man Award, the league office announced Monday morning.

In BIG EAST games, Rowsey is second on the team in scoring (12.6 points per game) and ranked among the league leaders in field goal percentage (14th, .470), assists (12th, 2.9 apg.), free throw percentage (1st, .935), 3-point field goal percentage (2nd, .484) and 3-point field goals per game (4th, 2.4).

The Lexington, Virginia native's season-long free throw percentage (.943) is currently the second-best mark in the nation. He redshirted in 2015-16 after transferring from UNC Asheville, where he was an all-league performer and finished third in the nation in free throw percentage (.921) as a sophomore in 2014-15.

Rowsey is the first Marquette player to earn the award since Davante Gardner claimed the honor in back-to-back campaigns (2012-13, 2013-14). Teammate Markus Howard was tabbed to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team on Sunday afternoon.
