MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's soccer season opened its spring season over the weekend with victories over Iowa State and Milwaukee at Valley Fields and a draw at Valparaiso.
The Golden Eagles traveled to Indiana on Friday, March 30 to open their spring campaign against the Crusaders. The tilt ended in a 1-1 draw, with sophomore Leah Celarek notching Marquette's lone goal.
Marquette then returned home to host Milwaukee and Iowa State on Sunday, April 2. The Golden Eagles opened their day by topping the Cyclones, 2-0. Carrie Madden began the scoring for MU on a header from a corner kick in the first half and Bri Jaeger added to Marquette's lead by also netting a goal off a corner kick.
The Golden Eagles completed their weekend with a 3-0 victory over Milwaukee later Sunday afternoon. Madden tallied the first goal for MU with a tap-in after edging out the defender in a foot-race. The Golden Eagles added two more goals on penalty kicks taken by Eli Beard and Darian Powell.
Marquette resumes spring action at Notre Dame on Saturday, April 22 with kickoff at 2 p.m. Central time.
