2017-18 Schedule

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign, 33rd-year head coach Jody Bronson announced Tuesday.

The fall portion will begin at the 42nd Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic (MTC) hosted by the Town Club in Fox Point, Wis.

In recent years, the MTC consisted of both men's and women's individual and doubles play. One major change for 2017 will be the return to an at-large, individual competition taking place Sept. 21-14. This year's MTC singles winners will also receive wild cards into the Intercollegiate Athletic Association (ITA) National Tournament located in Indian Wells, Calif. from Nov. 1-5.

Following the MTC, Marquette will remain on the road for the remainder of the fall, highlighted by the ITA Regional tournament.

The Golden Eagles will remain in the Midwest from Sept. 29 to Oct. 16, traveling to Bloomington, Ind., Evanston, Ill. and Ann Arbor, Mich. The team heads to Spokane, Wash. for the Gonzaga Tournament to end the fall campaign from Nov. 3-5.

Marquette returns to Bloomington, Ind. for the Indiana Winter Tournament before playing its first of nine total home matches for the year against instate rival Wisconsin (Jan. 26).

The spring slate continues with a home match against Green Bay (Jan. 28) before road trips to Indiana and Minnesota to begin February. Marquette alternates between home and away for the rest of the month, including stops in Kalamazoo, Mich. and Iowa City, Iowa.

After traveling to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (Feb. 25), the Golden Eagles host Northern Illinois (March 2). MU will then head south to Miami, Fla. for a two-match stretch against Columbia and Florida International.

Marquette splits the final eight matches of 2017-18 regular season between home and away, highlighted by four BIG EAST matchups in Milwaukee against Butler (March 25), Creighton (April 6), Xavier (April 9) and DePaul (April 21).

The BIG EAST Tournament will take place in Columbia, S.C. for the third consecutive year from April 26-29. Last year, Marquette lost to Xavier in the opening round, but defeated Creighton in a consolation match, 4-1.
