The Marquette University men's tennis team will begin the dual portion of its season on Friday, Jan. 19 when it travels to Iowa City to face Iowa, with the opening serve tabbed for 11 a.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles have won two of their last four dual openers, with both losses coming from Big Ten competitor Minnesota in the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons.
"Iowa is a very talented team that will play this year with a lot of depth, and we will need to be good at all nine spots," said head coach Steve Rodecap. "Anytime you play a Big Ten team on the road you will need to have very good starts to the matches. They are very well coached, and it will be a great test for us to kick the season off."
Marquette is coming off their third consecutive season of taking runner-up in the BIG EAST Championship tournament. Butler ended the season for Marquette, while claiming the NCAA Automatic Bid for the tournament in a 4-3 victory.
The Hawkeyes are highlighted by senior Josh Silverstein who ranks 12th in the most doubles wins for Iowa. Senior Jake Jacoby shows as a strong competitor with posting 14 dual wins in singles last season.
