Marquette University sophomore Martha Konovodoff
and senior Anna Haak
have earned BIG EAST weekly awards, the league office announced on Tuesday. Konovodoff was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Haak earns a spot on the honor roll for the first time in her Marquette career.
Konovodoff averaged 5.00 digs per set in three matches last weekend and helped the Golden Eagles hold opponents to just a .179 hitting percentage, while Haak complied a double-double in a trio of sweeps over Butler, Seton Hall and St. John's. She averaged 4.22 digs per set and 4.00 kills for Marquette.
The Golden Eagles are 17-4 overall with an 8-1 mark through the first half of BIG EAST play and have won a Marquette record 21 straight sets since falling at Creighton on Sept. 23. MU will host DePaul on Friday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. CT before traveling to Northern Iowa for a non-conference matchup on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. CT.
