Marquette Defeats No. 12/10 Kansas State, 83-71

Markus Howard fueled MU with season-high 45 points

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's basketball team upset previously unbeaten and No. 12/10 Kansas State on Saturday afternoon, 83-71, fueled by a 45-point performance from Markus Howard. It's the highest win over a ranked opponent since Marquette defeated then-No. 13 Seton Hall on Jan. 9, 2018.

The Golden Eagles (6-2) shot a blistering 68 percent from the floor to build a double-digit halftime lead over the Wildcats (6-1), who had never trailed heading into the break this season. Howard collected 26 of his season-high 45 points in those first 20 minutes. His point total in today's victory is the most by an MU player since his 52-point performance at Providence on Jan. 3, 2018.

Howard was joined in double-digit scoring by Sacar Anim with 16 points, a season-high. Joseph Chartouny collected seven rebounds, the most for the graduate student in a Marquette uniform.

Collectively, the Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Wildcats 34-25. Marquette led by as many as 17 points in the win.

Marquette will host UTEP on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Fiserv Forum. Tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. Central time and will air on FS1.
