has been named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) East Coast Region player of the year and a member of the All-East Coast Region team, while fellow Golden Eagles, Martha Konovodoff
, Jenna Rosenthal
and Anna Haak
also earn all-region honors.
Rosenthal and Konovodoff join Barber on the all-region squad, while Haak earns honorable mention honors.
Barber earned unanimous first team All-BIG EAST accolades as she led Marquette (28-6) with 4.67 kills per set, which ranks 12th
in the NCAA. The Cedarburg, Wisconsin native also earned BIG EAST All-Tournament team honors after the Golden Eagles made their second straight league tournament finals appearance and recorded double-digit kills in 32-of-34 matches this season. This is her second straight selection on the All-East Coast Region team.
Konovodoff was a second team All-BIG EAST selection in 2018 and earns her first career AVCA all-region honors. She is averaging 4.86 digs per set, which is 65th
in the NCAA. The Sugar Grove, Illinois product collected double-digit digs in 30-of-34 matches with a season-best 24 digs in just three sets over Tulsa in September.
Rosenthal earns all-region honors for the third consecutive season. The redshirt senior from Fond du Lac, Wis. Has established herself as a dominant middle blocker through her career and earned unanimous All-BIG EAST first team honors in 2018. Rosenthal led the BIG EAST and is 29th
in the NCAA with a .375 hitting percentage, while tallying 0.98 blocks per set and picked up six blocks in Marquette's sweep over Cincinnati, which propelled the Golden Eagles into the NCAA Round of 16.
Haak closes out her Marquette career earning All-East Coast region honorable mention honors for the first time after earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST first team this season. Haak was one of the top outside hitters in the league and averaged 2.56 kills per set with 3.18 digs per frame, playing all six rotations and the Angelholm, Sweden product recorded a team-high seven double-doubles this season.
Marquette has produced an already historic season with 28 wins and a berth to the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time in program history after earning the No. 14 national seed in the 2018 NCAA Championship, the Golden Eagles first national seeding.
