Marquette Opens BIG EAST Play at Georgetown, St John's

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's tennis team will open BIG EAST Conference play on the road, beginning at Georgetown on Friday, March 23 for a 10 a.m. Central time first serve. The squad finishes the weekend with a trip to St. John's on Saturday, March 24 for a 7 p.m. CT matchup.

The Golden Eagles (9-4) went 1-1 last week in Las Vegas, Nev., starting with a 4-3 win over Northern Arizona. Junior Greg Anderson clinched the win (7-6, 6-7, 6-4) in the final match of the day at the No. 4 spot. MU fell to host UNLV the following day, 5-2.

Georgetown (3-4) most recently took down Temple, 4-3, on March 17. The Hoyas were riding a three-match losing streak prior to the win, but have remained unbeaten at home (2-0).

The Red Storm (9-3) have also taken advantage of their home court, recording a 6-1 mark in Queens, N.Y. St. John's has won eight straight, including three consecutive 7-0 victories over Saint Francis (PA), Siena and Fordham.

After a six-match road swing, Marquette will host Detroit on Friday, March 30 at 2 p.m. CT.
