May 8, 2018

MILWAUKEE-The Marquette University women's tennis team celebrated its annual awards banquet last week at The Rumpus Room, wrapping up the 2017-18 campaign. It was an evening of celebration that included a final sendoff to senior Paula Tormos Sanchez after her four-year career as a Golden Eagle comes to an end, followed by head coach Jody Bronson and assistant coach Dusan Medan handing out team awards.

BIG EAST Rookie of the Year Natalija Popovic earned Most Valuable Player, Lesley Foe earned Most Improved Player, as well as Most Dedicated and Fleur Eggink earned the team Academic Award. These awards were given out based on players and coach's nominations.

This season the Golden Eagles finished 12-10 overall and 1-2 in conference play, which marks the 11th straight season the squad has finished with a record above .500. Marquette reached the BIG EAST semifinals for the third time in four seasons, falling to DePaul, 4-2.
