Golden Eagles Soaring in Latest PDL Summer Update

MILWAUKEE - Yesterday, June 21, marked the first official day of summer, which is fitting as things have been heating up for Marquette men's soccer players in the PDL. Throught Week 7 in the league, Josh Coan, Luka Prpa and Patrick Seagrist (twice) have been named to PDL Teams of the Week, while others continue to contribute at a high level.

The calendar sits only a couple months shy of Marquette's 2018 regular season opener vs. Valparaiso (Aug. 26) and just over one month from the first squad training session as several key members are already displaying quality form on the pitch.

Martin Alba / RS-Senior / M / Chicago FC United

  • Has one goal in five matches (369 minutes) so far this season. Lone goal stood as the game-winner in the team's 2-1 triumph over WSA Winnipeg back on June 7.
  • Next match: at St. Louis Lions on Saturday, June 23 (5 p.m. CT)

Luis Barraza / Senior / GK / Chicago FC United)

  • Holds a stellar 0.80 GAA with six total saves in three matches (225 minutes). He went the full 90 minutes to register a 4-0 shutout with one save against Kaw Valley FC back on June 3.
  • Next match: at St. Louis Lions, Saturday, June 23 (5 p.m. CT)

Josh Coan / Junior / F / IMG Academy Bradenton

  • On June 16, Coan single-handedly fueled IMG Academy to a thrilling come from behind 3-2 victory over Weston FC with his first hat trick of the season. He tied the match in the 41st minute before erasing a 2-1 deficit with unassisted goals in the 85th and 90th minutes. He was also credited with the game-winner in a 3-1 victory back on May 30. In four matches, he has four goals on five shots in 340 minutes of action.

Luka Prpa / Junior / M / Chicago FC United

  • Prpa scored his second goal of the season in the team's 2-0 victory over the Thunder Bay Chill to push Chicago FC United to 5-0-0 on the season at the time. He tallied the game-winning goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Kaw Valley FC on June 3. In six matches, Prpa has two goals, an assist and nine shots in 530 minutes of action.

Ruben Sanchez / Senior / D/M / Mississippi Brilla FC

  • In six matches (489 minutes) this season, Sanchez has gone the full 90 minutes on four occasions, including each of his last three matches - all of them wins. He has one assist that came on the game's first goal in a 3-1 win over Birmingham Hammers on June 16. Mississippi Brilla FC currently leads the Deep South Division.
  • Next match: at Peachtree City MOBA, Thursday, June 28 (6:30 p.m. CT)

Patrick Seagrist / Junior / D/M / Charlotte Eagles

  • In his first game of the season with Charlotte, Seagrist provided a goal and an assist in a 2-1 victory over the Myrtle Beach Mutiny. He followed that up three games later with a brace that propelled Charlotte to a 6-1 win over the Carolina Dynamo. Seagrist leads Charlotte with eight points on three goals and two assists in seven matches (620 minutes). He's gone the full 90 minutes five times, including each of the last three matches.
  • Next match: vs. Lionsbridge FC, tonight (June 22), at 6 p.m. CT
