Golf Team Takes Ninth At Persimmon Ridge

LOUISVILLE - The Marquette University golf team finished ninth this afternoon at the University of Louisville?s Persimmon Ridge Intercollegiate Tournament at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club. Led by junior Mark Wentz, the Golden Eagles shot a two-round score of 613 to tie Ball State for ninth place. Notre Dame captured the team title with a 17-over-par 593.
Wentz shot a 73 on both days of competition, finishing with a two-over 146 that was good for fourth place among the 90 individual finishers. Tim Jacobs also turned in a strong performance, finishing in a nine-way tie for 26th place with a score of 152, which was eight over par. Western Kentucky's Eric Mason won the individual title by shooting a two-under par 142. He was one of only two players under par during the two-day event.
Marquette next competes at Tulane?s Deep South Intercollegiate Tournament on Oct. 25-26.
