Women's Cross Country Prepares For Great Lakes Meet

UP NEXT Dave Uhrich?s Marquette women?s cross country team has this weekend off as it prepares for the NCAA Great Lakes Region Championship in Terre Haute, Ind., on Sat., Nov. 13.
LAST WEEK Freshman Susan Barth (Bluffton, Ind. / Bluffton) paced the Marquette women to a second place finish at the Conference USA Championship Meet on Sat., Oct. 30, in Charlotte, N.C. The Golden Eagles finished just five points out of the title with 71 points. South Florida edged Marquette with 66 points. Cincinnati placed third, with 80 points in the 5K race.
Barth led the Golden Eagles with her fifth-place finish, recording a 17:28.1 time at UNC Charlotte?s home course in McAlpine Park. Following Barth for Marquette were fellow All-Conference USA runners Sarah McCullough (Naperville, Ill. / Benet Academy) and Jessie Swan (West Allis, Wis. / Central) who finished 10th and 14th respectively. Junior Erika Jacobson (Sister Bay, Wis. / Gibralter) finished just out of the All-Conference USA honors, taking 17th place with a time of 17:55.3. The top fifteen finishers claim all-conference honors.
Hanne Lyngstad of Tulane captured the individual title with a time of 16:43.2. She was followed by Kelly Travis (17:07.5) of UNC Charlotte and Angie Kist (17:25.7) of Cincinnati.
