MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Andy Kowske scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Wisconsin past Marquette 86-74 Thursday night.
Mike Kelley also had a career-high with 17 points for the Badgers (7-4). Kelley made 12 of 14 free throws, including 7 of 8 attempts in the last two minutes.
Mark Vershaw and Jon Bryant added 12 points each and Roy Boone 10 as Wisconsin snapped its two-game losing skid.
Marquette (5-4) was led by Brian Wardle with 28 points and John Cliff with 25. No other Golden Eagle scored more than six.
After trailing by as many as 16 points early in the second half, Marquette rallied behind the 3-point shooting of Cliff and Cordell Henry to narrow the deficit to 49-42. The Golden Eagles hit three straight 3-pointers during a 13-4 run, two by Cliff and one by Henry.
Wisconsin, which had missed its first 10 attempts from beyond the arc, responded with a 12-3 run sparked by 3-pointers by Kelley and Bryant.
The Badgers, who struggled from the free throw line in the first half when they made just 11 of 21, hit 16 of 20 free throws down the stretch to hold off the Golden Eagles.
Marquette made 11 of 20 shots from 3-point range, including five by Cliff and three by Wardle.
Vershaw, who did not start for the first time this season as Bennett shuffled his lineup, scored 10 points off the bench in the first half to help the Badgers build a 39-27 lead.
Wisconsin outscored Marquette 15-5 over a six-minute stretch to open up a 30-19 lead with just over five minutes left in the half.
The Badgers took advantage of 13 Marquette turnovers in the first half, seven of them coming on Wisconsin steals. The Badgers finished with 11 steals, six by Kelley.
