Dan Fax Comes Up Short in All-America Bid

BOISE, Idaho -- Marquette University's Dan Fax (West Bend, Wis. / East) finished 17th in the shot put competition tonight at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Boise State University. Fax needed to finish as one of the top eight American finishers to garner his third All-America honors.
Fax's throw of 57ft-9in placed him 17th. Southern Methodist's Janus Robberts earned the shot put title with a throw of 65ft-11.5in.
It was Fax's second consecutive appearance at the outdoor championships. Last year, he finished ninth and earned All-America status with a throw of 59-11.25. He also placed ninth and earned All-America honors at the 1997 NCAA Indoor Championships.
