This morning we woke up to pouring rain that didn't let up the entire day. Fortunately, our day was planned for inside, as we toured the glass factories Orrefors and Kosta Boda. After a brief tour of the factory, we were turned loose in the shop. A great deal of "personal souvenirs" were purchased, along with many gifts for family and friends. Orrefors is the second-leading glass producer in the world and is well-known for its beautiful, traditional glassware. Kosta Boda proved to be the more modern and colorful of the glass makers.
After another long bus ride, we reached Malmo only to find another festival going on right in front of our hotel. So, of course, we decided to find out what it was all about. It appeared to be some kinf of International Fest because we sampled all different kinds of food and music. There were even some carnival games and rides, Abbie got more of a ride than she bargained for, though!
Malmo is a very contemporary and busy city. You forget you're in a foreign country until you look up at the signs. We should get a better idea of it tomorrow. Our last game in Sweden is also tomorrow night. Since most of the American snacks have run out, we made a list of things we really miss about home:
- cheeseburgers
- soft toilet paper
- fried chicken
- non-carbonated water
- newspapers (that we can read)
- pet turtles and kitties
- my own bed
- Gatorade
- pancakes
Oh yeah - friends and family, too!
