Marquette Announces Midnight Madness Plans

Milwaukee - For the first time in school history, Marquette?s men?s and women?s basketball teams will be hosting Midnight Madness to tip off their 1999-2000 seasons. The free event will be held on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Milwaukee Auditorium. Doors will open at 11 p.m. and activities will start at approximately 11:15. The first 1,000 fans to arrive at the Auditorium will receive free Marquette Midnight Madness t-shirts. Among the events will be a half-court shot contest, in which two lucky fans will have the opportunity to win a 2000 Ford Focus, courtesy of Schmit Ford Mercury-Thiensville. Additional contests and drawings for other prizes will be held throughout the evening.
Free shuttles will run from the Union Sports Annex, located at the corner of 16th and Wells Streets on the Marquette campus, beginning at 10:15 p.m. The first 100 riders will receive free Marquette Midnight Madness t-shirts.
CBS Sports and ESPN broadcaster Bill Raftery, one of college basketball?s most respected and popular analysts, will be on hand for the evening?s festivities.
Just before midnight the men?s and women?s teams will be introduced. At the stroke of midnight, the teams will take the court and go through a brief workout.
